Testing many strategies means some will win by luck. Trust the ones that beat the index by a clear margin in both periods, with many positions and a reason to work; treat a narrow or one-period win as noise.

How the backtest works: each strategy is built from the SEC's Form 13F data sets, every 13F-HR filed since 2013, using each fund's largest stock positions. Funds have 45 days after a quarter ends to file, so every portfolio is rebuilt at the close on the first trading day after that deadline, using only filings already public, and held unchanged until the next quarter's rebuild. Which funds and which of their stocks each strategy follows, and how it sizes positions, are Shameless Cloning's own rules; some strategies leave out companies under a minimum market value. Holdings are matched from CUSIP to ticker through FMP and OpenFIGI and checked against the value per share each fund reported; a company that was acquired or delisted is valued at its last traded price until the next rebuild. Every change in a position costs 0.1% of the amount traded. Returns use daily closes without dividends, for the strategies and the S&P 500 alike. Some older holdings, mostly securities renamed or merged away before 2016, could not be priced and are left out. 13F filings show positions up to 135 days old, and the funds may have traded since. Past results are a backtest, not a promise, and nothing here is investment advice.
